Cleavage Buffing and Other Nonsense
I felt heartened while watching the Oscars on Sunday night. Lots of folks with natural faces. Lovely Laura Linney showed no signs of Botox or Collogen having been injected into her face to distort things. Helen Mirren looked stunning and classy, as she always does. George Clooney is maturing magnificently. Nicole Kidman was questionable. Her face seems to keep getting tighter and tighter and it looks uncomfortable. Seems like it would be hard to act with a frozen face.
No one looked downright scary though, but what some of them go through before the Oscars seems to borderline on torture.
Power-bleaching (I’m hoping that’s something they do to their teeth, not their skin), armpit botox, stiletto foot surgeries and last-minute liposuction, are some of the procedures the stars go through these days for big events like the Oscars.
Underarm Botox? Why? Does it paralyze the sweat glands? That could be good, but that stuff has got to come out somewhere.
And cleavage buffing…… is that something only done in Hollywood, or are well heeled women all over the world having their cleavage buffed? Can you do it at home or does it have to be done by a professional? Does the professional have to have a license to buff cleavage? And what about buttocks? Is there such a thing as buttock buffing? Is it the same as a good scrub in the shower, or is this something completely different?
Too many things. If you want to read about all the rest of the stuff these people put themselves through, go check out Ashley Pearson’s article in the Daily Mail.

I’ll pass on the butt buffing thank you!
I saw Courtney Cox on Letterman last night and the only thing that moved on her entire face was her lower jaw when she talked. She looked like a puppet, and she’s only 44. Priscilla Presley has been promoting her upcoming appearance on Dancing with the Stars on all the gossip shows, and her face never moves either. She looks like a wax reproduction of herself. Totally and obviously fake.
I don’t get it because they don’t look better, they look ridiculous and everyone can tell.
Oh no! Courtney Cox has such lovely natural bone structure, that I’m sure she would look good well into her mature years without any unnatural efforts. It really takes something away from them. The thinking must be that it’s better to look freakish than to look old, but as I’ve said here before, eventually they will look like old freaks.
This is what Courtney looked like, minus the mustache and chin strip.
I just went and had a look at her appearance on Letterman. There’s a whole Morticia thing going on with this kind of face “enhancement”.
The FDA recently issued a Botox warning because it has been harming and killing people. There is no way in hell I will ever let anyone inject botulism into my body and I don’t care if I end up looking like a Sharpei.
Another peeve: collagen lips! The lady that owns our local health food store has lips so huge that when I’m talking to her I can’t see anything else. It makes me uncomfortable because I know she must notice that I’m staring, but she’s a walking freak show. Her lips scare me and I need to keep an eye on them so I can defend myself when they jump off her face and try to suck me to death! And she’s supposedly trying to promote a natural lifestyle. I found a picture of her online here, but it was taken several years ago and they are much much bigger now. At least twice as big.
I’m all for cleavage buffing — homestyle. Five minutes a day with a little Turtle Wax polish and a chammy and the water beads off I tell you - beads OFF! And the shine!? Damn!
LOL!!!! Good one Will. That may be the exact technique. If so, women will have no problem getting a good cleavage buffing whenever they so desire - free of charge.
Kuleana, thanks for the info on Botox. I’ve been wondering about that, since Botox is a poison. I guess it was just a matter of time. As for the lady at the health food store, that is rather strange, but perhaps her argument would be that collagen is natural. People always seem to come up with reasons for the mutilation.
I was curious about the collagen, so I looked around and found this:
Interesting, because I believe the lip lady (my nickname for her) at the natural food store is a vegetarian. Hell, if you’re going to let somebody inject cow skin into your lips you might as well eat the stuff. All kinds of sick jokes are coming to mind but I’ll spare you!
Also, I just noticed that in my comment above I linked to the botox story at the BBC which doesn’t mention the FDA warning specifically. I meant to link to the article on the Consumer Affairs web site, which is specifically about the US FDA warning. I looked at both so must have copied the wrong one. Anyway, I wanted to clear that up since we Americans have a nasty habit of disregarding foreign reports as somehow unreliable.
I am very interested in the buttocks buffing and also the cleavage buffing. Any place on the body that can be buffed cannot be a bad thing. While having this procedure should the client be enjoying it or just grin an bare it? I wonder if they offer some sort of numbing cream first for the area in question or just go for it? One more thought of a car polishing buffer comes to mind, that could be quite interesting. Puts a shine on those hard to reach areas.
It does bring to mind a polishing buffer, doesn’t it? If they don’t numb you beforehand, maybe they provide a bottle of lidocaine for the after burn.
